New Years Blog Resolutions

Happy New Year, dear readers! 2016 will be The Gothic Library’s first full year, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve got some big plans for the blog this year, and there’s a lot I want to do to really improve the site. I figured I would share some of my blogging goals for the year with you, so that you can help me stick to them! Without further ado, here are some of the things I’d like to do with the blog in 2016:

Happy New Year 2016 copy

  1. Expand the genres of books I read and review. I’ve been kind of locked into young adult urban fantasy and paranormal romance this past year, but I really want to cover a wide variety of books that owe their existence to the traditional Gothic genre. I’m especially hoping to read more horror, mystery, and adult fiction. Please feel free to send me recommendations for books in these areas, or any others you’d like me to cover!
  2. Post multiple times a week more often. Morbid Mondays are great, but I’d love to get even more content up–especially smaller, simpler posts throughout the week.
  3. Work more directly with authors. I’ve already got some plans for this brewing for the new year, but I’d love to start doing author interviews, partnering with authors to promote their new releases, and just in general providing a more direct link to the creators of the books we love.
  4. Engage more with other bloggers. I’d love to do more blog challenges like the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge I did last year. I’d also like to start hosting guest posts on my own site, as well as doing more guest posts on other people’s blogs like the review I did for B.R. Sanders back in September. If you’re a fellow blogger, and you think you might be interested in partnering in some way in 2016, shoot me an email or a tweet!
  5. Use more original photos and visual material. It’s hard to have original visuals on a book blog, and I’m no great photographer or artist, but I think I can still improve a bit in this area. Plus I still have some photos from a photo shoot that I promised to release months ago…

What new things do you want to see on the site? What kind of books would you like to see me review? What authors or other bloggers should I reach out to? Share your thoughts and advice in the comments!
